Inadequate attic ventilation causes ice dams, premature shingle failure, and moisture problems. We assess and correct ventilation as part of every roof replacement.

Ontario Building Code requires ice-and-water shield at eaves and valleys. We install it correctly and extend it where icing conditions demand it.

Flashing at Penetrations

How do I know when my roof needs replacing?
Signs include curling, missing, or granule-shedding shingles, visible sagging, interior water stains, or a roof over 20–25 years old. We provide free inspections.
How long does an asphalt shingle roof last in Ontario?
Quality architectural shingles last 25–35 years with proper installation and ventilation. Basic 3-tab shingles typically last 15–20 years.
What causes ice dams?
Ice dams form when heat escapes through the roof deck and melts snow, which then refreezes at the cold eaves. The solution is proper attic insulation and ventilation — not just more ice shield.
Can you repair a section of my roof, or does the whole thing need to go?
It depends on the extent of damage and age of the existing roofing. We inspect honestly and recommend repair when it makes financial sense, replacement when it doesn't.
